Prof. Dr. Asif Bashir is a world-renowned neurosurgeon and spine surgeon who, after two decades in the USA, left his position as Professor and Director of Neurosurgery at the JFK New Jersey Neuroscience Institute to lead the Neurosurgery Department at the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences (PINS) at Lahore General Hospital (LGH), Pakistan. He trained at some of the most prestigious institutions in the USA, including the University of Minnesota, Upstate University in Syracuse, NY, Harvard Boston Children’s Hospital, and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

He was the second U.S. board-certified neurosurgeon in Pakistan and dedicated his services to treating uninsured, underserved patients while training residents at the largest neurosurgery program in Pakistan, PINS LGH. Dr. Asif Bashir has revolutionized patient care by introducing minimally invasive spine surgeries, endoscopic cranial surgeries, deep brain stimulation (DBS), and other advanced procedures that were previously unavailable in Pakistan. He has also published extensively and became the first neurosurgeon in Pakistan to implant Vagus Nerve Stimulators (VNS) for the treatment of epilepsy.
